Name: Anvesha Dosajh
Society: The Debating Society of NSIT
Q 1. What is a typical day/meet like in your society?
Meets in the society vary from regular Group discussion sessions, MUN Training sessions, Parliamentary Debate Workshops to literary meets of ‘The Page Turners’. Debsoc is an open society. Students from all years are invited to participate in these sessions conducted by the society.
Q 2. What have been your accomplishments while working in your society?
I have been working with the society right from my first year in college. Being a regular participant in activities organized by Debsoc, I got a chance to represent my college at the prestigious Harvard National Model United Nations, Boston. Interacting with seniors and working actively in the society helped me grow as an individual. I got a chance to work for the Annual Debating and Literary Festival, ‘Colloquium’ for two consecutive years.
Q 3. What is the level of interaction amongst the members in your society?
The Debating Society is like family to each of its members. There is no senior-junior hierarchy as such. Interaction between students from all the four years takes place. Mentors provide constant guidance. Being an open society, members are free to interact with each other.
Q 4. What all life lessons have you learnt as an active part of your society?
Being an active part of the Debating Society, I have learned how to work well in a team. Carrying out multiple tasks with great efficiency and at the same, working in close collaboration with people is something Debsoc has taught me. Contributing to the organization of a festival as big as Colloquium indeed provided a great learning experience.
Q 5. How do you feel, on a personal level, while working in your society?
Working for the Debating Society has always come to me from the heart. I am passionate about debating and this society gives me the right platform to follow my passion. My seniors and fellow team members are always willing to help. Debsoc offers a great environment to work, and I feel connected to it.
