INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

This discipline has been added to expanding horizon of NSIT’s technological area in the academic session 2002-03 to meet the growth demand of IT professionals. Presently, this discipline is managed by existing manpower and infrastructural resources to the Division of Computer Engineering. However, new laboratories for supporting its well designed curriculum have been added and the same are under development.IT professionals perform a variety of functions that ranges from installing applications to designing complex computer networks and information databases. A few of the duties that IT professionals perform may include data management, networking, database and software design, as well as management and administration of entire systems. Information technology is starting to spread further than the conventional personal computer and network technologies, and more into integrations of other technologies such as the use of cell phones, televisions, automobiles, and more, which is increasing the demand for such jobs.

Information Technology plays a vital role in Software developing and networking world. This course provides the strong academic engineering education required to equip you with the broad range of skills a information Technology engineers needs in order to meet the challenges of a diverse range of careers both at home and abroad.

The research related areas are:

Artificial intelligence(AI) – Artificial Intelligence is the engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs. It is related to the similar task of using computers to understand human intelligence. AI research is highly technical and specialized, and deeply divided into subfields.

Robotics-Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, structural disposition, manufacture and application of robots. Robotics is related to the sciences of electronics, engineering, mechanics, and software.

Microprocessors -A microprocessor incorporates the functions of a computer’s central processing unit (CPU) on a single integrated circuit, or at most a few integrated circuits. It is a multipurpose, programmable device that accepts digital data as input, processes it according to instructions stored in its memory, and provides results as output.

VLSI Design -Very-large-scale integration (VLSI) is the process of creating integrated circuits by combining thousands of transistors into a single chip. VLSI began when complex semiconductor and communication technologies were being developed.
