It is also used for diagnostics in health care, environmental pollution measurement and in all fields of advanced research and development. Instrumentation Engineering is a multidisciplinary program drawing on several disciplines: electrical, electronics, computer, chemical and mechanical engineering, material science and biomedical engineering. Flexibility in curriculum is provided through electives enabling the student to choose subjects to their own fascination and career objective. The main emphasis is on process instrumentation and control. Advanced tools and techniques like VLSI design, MEMS, signal and image processing, optoelectronics and intelligent instrumentation are also included.
It is the engineering specialization focused on the principle and operation of measuring instruments that are used in design and configuration of automated systems in electrical, pneumatic domains etc. They typically work for industries with automated processes, such as chemical or manufacturing plants, with the goal of improving system productivity, reliability, safety, optimization, and stability. To control the parameters in a process or in a particular system, devices such as microprocessors, microcontrollers or PLCs are used, but their ultimate aim is to control the parameters of a system.

Signal Processing – Signal processing is an area that deals with operations on or analysis of signals, in either discrete or continuous time, to perform useful operations on those signals. Signals of interest can include sound, images, time-varying measurement values and sensor data, for example biological data such as electrocardiograms, control system signals, telecommunication transmission signals etc.
Integrated Circuits -An integrated circuit is an electronic circuit manufactured by the patterned diffusion of trace elements into the surface of a thin substrate of semiconductor material. Computers, cell phones, and other digital appliances are now inextricable parts of the structure of modern societies, made possible by production of integrated circuits.
Microprocessors – A microprocessor incorporates the functions of a computer’s central processing unit (CPU) on a single integrated circuit, or at most a few integrated circuits. It is a multipurpose, programmable device that accepts digital data as input, processes it according to instructions stored in its memory, and provides results as output.
Artificial intelligence(AI) -Artificial Intelligence is the engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs. It is related to the similar task of using computers to understand human intelligence. AI research is highly technical and specialized, and deeply divided into subfields.
Robotics-Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, structural disposition, manufacture and application of robots. Robotics is related to the sciences of electronics, engineering, mechanics, and software.
The programmes offered by this division are : B. E., M. Tech. (Process Control) and Ph. D. Two new M. Tech. Courses on Mechatronics and Industrial Electronics will be started very soon. Proposal for M. Tech. in Bio-Medical Engineering has been sent to AICTE for approval.
